Masseria MontanariHoliday Home
A strategic position to reach the sea, art cities and historic villages with ease.
Masseria Montanari rises in Grecìa Salentina, the Greek-speaking heart of Salento, halfway between the Adriatic and Ionian coasts. From here the whole of southern Salento is within easy reach.
A few minutes from the village of Castrignano dei Greci and from the historic centre of Carpignano Salentino, it is the perfect base to discover beaches, Baroque towns, food and ancient traditions.

On the Adriatic side, a few kilometres away: Otranto, the Baia dei Turchi, Torre dell’Orso and the Alimini lakes, with crystal-clear water and pine groves. On the Ionian side, the long sandy beaches of Gallipoli, Porto Cesareo and Punta Prosciutto — both coasts within easy reach for a different beach every day.

Otranto, the easternmost town in Italy, with its Aragonese castle and the cathedral’s “Tree of Life” mosaic. Lecce, the “Florence of the South”, a triumph of Baroque carved in Lecce stone. And all around, the white villages of Grecìa Salentina.

A cluster of villages where Griko — a language of Greek origin — is still alive, together with the rhythm of the pizzica. Every August nearby Melpignano hosts the Notte della Taranta, the largest folk festival in Italy.
Pasticciotto and rustico for breakfast, puccia and frisa, orecchiette and pittule, extra-virgin olive oil and the great red wines — Negroamaro and Primitivo. At the masseria the genuine, zero-km tradition continues at the table.
Otranto, baroque Lecce, the Alimini and Torre dell’Orso beaches, Galatina and the Grecìa Salentina.
The sea is 14 km away: the Adriatic beaches are about 20 minutes by car.
Lecce is about 25 minutes by car from the farmhouse.
