Astrology Reading: What to Expect, What to Bring and What You Receive

Booking your first astrology reading is a bit like walking into an unfamiliar room: you do not quite know what will happen, what to say, whether it will be a serious thing or a fairground reading. This guide tells you how a well-done reading works, from the booking email to the file that reaches you afterwards, so that you arrive at ease and make the most of the time.

Before: the data and the question

To calculate the natal chart you need date, place and time of birth. The time matters a great deal: if you do not know it precisely, ask your municipality for the full birth certificate. With these three pieces of data Valentina prepares the chart before the meeting, so the minutes together are all given to the reading and not to the calculations.

Then there is the question. It is not compulsory, but it helps: a career change that will not take off, a relationship that keeps repeating, the feeling of being at a crossroads. Bringing a question gives the reading a direction; not having one is fine too, and in that case you get a general reading of the chart.

During: what the meeting is like

A natal chart reading lasts between 75 and 90 minutes. It usually opens with an overview of the chart, the main themes that catch the eye, and then goes down into the details that concern your question. The most important thing: it is a dialogue, not a monologue. A good consultant asks you whether what she is saying resembles you, leaves you room to tell your story, adjusts her aim. If you find yourself listening for an hour and a half without saying a word, something is wrong.

There is nothing to "do": no rituals, no cards to draw. You talk, you listen, sometimes you laugh, sometimes you are moved. Bring a pen, or ask to record.

Online or in person

The two formats have the same length and the same care; only the setting changes.

• Online, by video call: convenient for those living far from Salento, for those who want their own room and their own cup of tea. The chart graphic arrives by email before or after the meeting.
• In person, at Masseria Montanari in Carpignano Salentino: the reading takes place in the stone vaulted hall, with the silence of the countryside around, and can become an integrated energy consultation that brings together natal chart and reiki session in the same morning. Those coming from far away can sleep at the masseria.

After: what you receive and what happens

You receive the graphic of your natal chart and, if you asked for it, the recording or the notes. Then comes the part nobody talks about: the settling. In the days that follow, the things that were said come back, fall into place, start to make sense; some will seem obvious to you, others will work inside you for weeks. This is normal, and it is the reason there is no point in having readings one after another: one a year, or at each important passage, is enough.

The types of reading

The natal chart reading is the first step and the one to always start from. Then there are more specific readings, which will arrive at the masseria in time: transits and the solar return, which read the year that is beginning; synastry, which compares two charts to understand a relationship; the child's chart, for parents who want to know their child's character through other eyes.

What a reading costs in Italy

Prices are more transparent than you might think: an online natal chart reading in Italy costs between 48 and 80 euros at the basic level, and between 90 and 135 euros for 90-minute meetings or in-person readings with established professionals. At the masseria, prices will be announced at launch, first of all to those on the list, and we will stay honestly within that range.

What a good reading never does

It does not predict illness or bereavement. It does not promise money, marriages or pregnancies. It does not tell you what to do in your place. It does not leave you afraid of a transit on its way. And it does not suggest you come back every week: a serious reading returns you to yourself with more tools, not more dependence. Astrology is a work of self-knowledge, practised under Italian Law 4/2013 on non-regulated professions, and it does not replace medical or psychological care, nor financial advice.
