Intimate Masseria Wedding in Salento: Exclusive-Use Venue

Not everyone dreams of a wedding with three hundred guests and an impersonal banquet hall. More and more couples are choosing the opposite path: a handful of loved ones, an authentic setting, a day lived without rushing. It's the intimate wedding — or micro-wedding — and Salento, with its masserie, is one of the most beautiful places in the world to celebrate one.

What is an intimate wedding

An intimate wedding isn't a wedding "scaled down": it's a different kind of wedding. You give up the big numbers to gain warmth, authenticity and freedom. Less logistics, more real moments: time to actually talk with every guest, one long shared table instead of twenty, a photographer who captures people rather than choreography.

This way of celebrating has grown enormously in recent years, and Puglia has become one of the most sought-after destinations for it. It works for weddings, but also for milestone anniversaries, vow renewals and engagement parties: any occasion where what matters is the people, not the staging.

Why a masseria, and why exclusive use

The true luxury of a masseria isn't marble: it's exclusivity. Reserving the entire property means having a place all to yourselves for the day — and, if you wish, for several days. No other guests, no imposed schedules, no halls shared with the event next door. Just you, the people you love and the Salento countryside all around.

At Masseria Montanari, an old 1700s farmhouse in Carpignano Salentino, this translates into stone and open-air spaces, a large garden and the authentic atmosphere of a place with a real history. A setting that doesn't need much decorating: it's already beautiful as it is.

The spaces, in practice

  • The vaulted indoor hall, in Lecce stone: up to 35 seated guests, ideal for an intimate wedding lunch or dinner;
  • the garden and courtyard, for the symbolic ceremony, sunset aperitivo and cake cutting under the stars;
  • the 1700s arch and corners of stone and bougainvillea, which photographers fall for at first sight;
  • the six apartments, so you can stay the night — you and your guests.

A typical day (to give you an idea)

Every intimate wedding is different, but a day here often looks like this: the couple and their families arrive the day before and enjoy the masseria from sunset onwards. In the morning, unhurried preparations in the apartments — couples love the Artemisia Room, the masseria's "love nest"; in the afternoon the symbolic ceremony in the garden, then an aperitivo among the olive trees as the light turns golden. Dinner — one long table, indoors or outside — goes on as long as you like: the space is yours. And the next morning, breakfast all together among the orange trees, which many guests remember as the most beautiful moment of all.

How it works

Our philosophy is maximum flexibility. You can:

  • rent the hall or the entire masseria and organise the event yourselves, with your own trusted suppliers — catering, flowers, music, photographer;
  • or add, on request, a few services — from a barbecue prepared by our staff to help with refreshments.

A note of honesty, so you can choose well informed: we are not a banqueting hall with an in-house kitchen and wedding planner — we are a historic house in exclusive use, and the right numbers for us are those of intimacy, not big crowds. That is exactly what our couples come looking for.

The day after: your guests stay on

One of the most underrated perks of celebrating at a masseria is simple: your guests don't have to leave. The property's six apartments let everyone stay the night, stretching the celebration into a shared breakfast the next morning, among the orange trees. An intimate wedding thus becomes a little shared weekend, not just a single day.

When to celebrate

Spring and early summer (May-June) bring the garden to its fullest splendour; September and October offer the most beautiful light of the year and perfect temperatures for staying outdoors late into the evening. Even winter has its own cosy charm: the vaulted hall, candles, the celebration drawing close around the table.

Tell us your idea

Every event is different, which is why there are no pre-packaged formulas: let's talk it through. Write to us with your date, how many people you have in mind and what kind of celebration you're imagining, and together we'll build the right setting. Because the perfect wedding, in Salento, is the one that truly feels like you.
