Reiki in Salento: Sessions at a Masseria near Lecce, Maglie and Otranto
Anyone looking for reiki in Salento usually finds two things: a few holistic studios in Lecce and a handful of independent practitioners scattered across the villages, more visible on Facebook than on Google. In the Grecìa Salentina, the belt of villages between Lecce and Otranto where griko is still spoken, there is barely a trace of reiki. For a few months now, at Masseria Montanari in Carpignano Salentino, things have been changing: this page tells you what you will find, how it works and how to get there.
A place made for silence
Reiki asks for little: a couch, a quiet room, an hour without interruptions. But the quality of the room changes the quality of the hour. At the masseria, sessions take place in the vaulted hall in Lecce stone, 55 m² beneath a vault from the 1700s, air-conditioned, with the enclosed acoustics that only stone can give. Outside are the garden, the olive trees and the countryside of the Grecìa Salentina; inside, no other group, no waiting room, no telephone ringing behind a door. It is the same space that hosts yoga and holistic retreats from all over Italy, and for reiki it has the perfect measure: big enough to breathe, enclosed enough to feel sheltered.
Who leads the sessions
The sessions are led by Valentina, fourth-level Reiki Master and astrology consultant we work with. The fourth level is the highest degree in traditional training and comes after years of practice; it is the reason Valentina can also offer a format few provide, the integrated energy consultation, where the reading of the natal chart shows where to look and reiki works where it is needed. Everything takes place under Italian Law 4/2013 on non-regulated professions: no diagnosis, no promises. Reiki is a wellbeing practice, not a therapy, and does not replace medical or psychological care; where there is a medical condition, your doctor remains the point of reference.
The formats available
- Single session of around 60 minutes, in the vaulted hall. The format for those who want to try, or for those passing through Salento in search of an hour of real quiet.
- Cycle of three sessions, one or two weeks apart: the rhythm most practitioners recommend for those who want to work with continuity.
- Integrated energy consultation of around two hours, with reiki and natal chart together, in person only.
- For guest retreats: anyone organising a retreat at the masseria can offer participants individual sessions in the breaks of the programme, with a facilitator already on site.
Prices will be announced at launch, first of all to those on the list. As a guide: in Italy a reiki session generally costs between 40 and 80 euros, and we will stay within that range.
How far the masseria is
Carpignano Salentino is in the heart of the province, and the masseria is a few minutes' drive from the nearby towns:

There is parking in the masseria's forecourt. Those arriving by train can get off at Lecce or Maglie and take a taxi.
A session can become a weekend
It is the advantage no studio in town can offer: you can stay the night. The masseria has six independent lodgings, for a total of 16 sleeping places, and those coming from Bari, from Naples or from abroad can build a whole weekend around a session: reiki in the afternoon, dinner in the village, a slow morning in the garden.
